Check-In Check-Out & Housekeeping Status

Apologies if this is a very silly question, but how do I actually Check-In/Check-Out a guest so we can show they've arrived on the calendar?

Also, is is possible to add housekeeping status to a room? I.e. Room is Dirty, Room has been cleaned, Room has been checked.
