Template variable to extract elements from invoice table

It would be useful for us to have an email template variable able to filter/extract the total amount of specific items from the invoice table. I see it is already possible to filter on matching statuses, what we would like is something similar but filtering on the charge name instead of its status.
One use case is that we want to clearly separate some charges in the confirmation emails, instead of being in a single table.
Another use case is that extra charges received from booking.com are always written in the hotel language, not the guest language. Using this we could create more guest-friendly confirmation emails by extracting and renaming these charges.
