Expedia cancellations

Hi,
We have recently connected via channel manager to Expedia. I understand that existing bookings could not be imported and we have to do that by hand. But just today we had a cancellation from Expedia and that did not come through at all to Beds24; the booking we had inserted manually remained as conformed.
Is it the case that new bookings will be handled automatically between Expedia and Beds24 (confirmed, cancelled etc) but the the ones we import manually will never update automatically?
