Channel Manager Sync

How often does the channel manager send updates to the various channels. I am using the API to set the inventory and I noticed it takes several hours before my changes appear to booking.com. Going into the extranet and pushing update to send the updates instantly is not very convenient, is there a way to do this via the API?
